The Madras Swim Team (MST) is a competitive swimming team offering year-round instruction, training, and opportunities for competition to Central Oregon athletes of all ages and abilities.
MST’s program will continue to develop under the guidance of professional coaches who believe that competitive sports build good citizens as well as strong athletes.
Madras Swim Team try-outs are Mondays at 5:00pm at the Madras Aquatic Center.
Team Squads Bronze – (Ages 5-12). Practice Times: T/Th/F 5:00-6:00pm The Madras Swim Team entry level for 12 & Unders. Emphasis is on development of all four competitive strokes, starts and turns. Swim meets will be encouraged when the child is ready. ------------------------- Silver – (Ages 8-14). Practice Times: M/W/F 5:00-6:00pm Again, the emphasis is on developing improvement in all four strokes, starts and turns. Swimmers are introduced to interval training, but the emphasis is on technique. In this group, swimmers are encouraged to begin making short term goals. Endurance work is the major physiological practice goal. --------------------------- Gold – (Ages 10-16). Practice Times: Mon-Fri. 4:00-5:00pm Swimmers in this group do most of their workouts as interval training with technique highly emphasized. Competition and commitment are a requirement at this level. Goal setting is strongly encouraged and taught. ----------------------------- Senior – (Ages 12-18). 18+* Practice Times: Mon-Fri. 3:30-5:00pm This group is the top squad of the program. The primary emphasis in training with this group is developing a good aerobic base, with a philosophy of everybody being good freestylers, good IM’ers, and have a good secondary stroke. Competition is at the highest level with a goal of National recognition.
